Why did my Tesla charge to 100% early despite scheduled departure?

My Tesla charger typically charges to 85% and has a 40 amp charge rate. I scheduled a departure time of 10 AM tomorrow, I set the goal to 100% today in the hopes that the car will postpone charging until closer to departure. I didn't want it to sit at full charge for eighteen hours, though, because it was already at 100% at 1 PM today. Did I make a mistake in the procedure, or did I not get how the scheduled departure operates?

I don't know, but I learned the hard way not to rely on the departure time anymore. I find it more reliable to do it manually.
