Had a strange experience at my local Tesla service center. Got my rear tires replaced, but the tech found a mismatched wheels! Apparently, the rear right wheel was a front size (20x9.0J) with a rear tire (275) mounted on it.
Car only has 20k miles, and the service manager thinks it's from prior service, not a factory issue. Seems unlikely though, as you wouldn't normally see this without removing the tire. They offered a discount on a new wheel. Anyone else experience a similar mix-up?

Why in the world you didn't recognize it? Aside from Tesla, have you ever had your wheels worked on at other shops?

That’s a wild one! It’s surprising to hear about mismatched wheels, especially with such low mileage. I had a similar situation where I discovered a mix-up with my tires after a service appointment. They had installed a different size, and I only noticed when I had to get a flat fixed. It’s good that they offered a discount, but it definitely raises questions about quality control during service. Have you decided whether to take them up on that offer?

Mismatched wheels at 20k miles? I’d be concerned about safety, especially with how it might affect handling or wear. Before taking that discount, maybe double-check if there’s been any impact on alignment or performance.

I completely agree man. Mismatched wheels can definitely compromise safety and impact handling.

Man, talking about mismatched wheels brings back memories. I had mismatched wheels on my old car around 25k miles, and let me tell you, it felt like I was driving a shopping cart with a wobbly wheel. Handling was all over the place, and the wear? Yikes. I ended up swapping them out, and the difference was night and day. It’s wild how something like that can sneak up on you.

I hear you! I also had a crazy experience with mismatched tires, and it made my ride feel so unstable. Swapping them out completely transformed the driving experience.
