Any Alternatives for 2023 Model Y? I'm so annoyed! My 2019 Model 3 used HomeLink flawlessly with MyQ for free garage control. Now, with my new 2023 Model Y, Tesla switched to MyQ with a subscription?! My phone opens the garage through the MyQ app already, feels like a cash grab. Anyone find a workaround for this MyQ subscription for in-car garage control on the Model Y?

It does seem like a bit of a cash grab. I cant think of any direct workaround yet, but you can keep using the MyQ app on your phone without the subscription. Some folks have tried linking it with Siri or Google Assistant for easier control, though I don't think it’s perfect, but it still an option.

I miss the simplicity of HomeLink too. If you’re not into paying for MyQ, you could try retrofitting an older HomeLink module from Tesla. It might be a bit of a hassle to install, but it works well and doesn’t require a subscription. Another option is setting up a smart garage opener that integrates with Alexa or Google Assistant, so you can just voice-command it through your phone or another device. Keep experimenting, there’s always a workaround!
