Hey guys! Anyone put a powered frunk on their car? Sounds pretty awesome and convenient, but I’m kinda freaked out about how tricky the install might be. I’m keen to DYIng it myself. Is it a total nightmare or something even a newbie can handle? Also, how’s it holding up - reliable and safe? Would love to hear if it’s worth the hassle or if I should just stick with the old-school manual setup!

I’ve used Hannshow kits on both my Model 3 and my wife’s Model Y, and while they seemed great at first, I can’t recommend them. Durability? Awful. Customer support? Nonexistent.

I started with a powered frunk and trunk for my Model 3 (back before Tesla offered powered trunks), then added a powered frunk to the Y. Over time, all the kits failed. The 3’s trunk lifts leaked grease and jammed, the frunk stopped latching, and the Y’s frunk was a nightmare, it popped open randomly while driving and left the hood bent because of bad bracket design. I’d love a powered frunk for my new Y since they’re super handy when they work, but after all this, I’m done with Hannshow.
