So my wife got her Model Y like a month ago, and now she’s bugging me to slap a dashcam on it. As far as I know, Tesla’s already recording up to 10 minutes before anything goes down, right? I told her that, but she’s still pushing for an extra dashcam. Anybody here gone ahead and added one to their Model Y? I’m kinda thinking it’s overkill at this point. What do you guys think?

I didn’t bother with an extra dashcam on my Model Y because, honestly, Tesla’s built-in system is already pretty robust. I figure, why duplicate what’s already there? The four camera angles it records cover most situations. If you’re careful about where you park and review your footage regularly, it seems like adding more hardware is just unnecessary clutter. Unless she’s got a specific reason for wanting one, you’re probably good to stick with what you’ve got! Compare the resolutions as well.
