Why did my Tesla charge to 100% early despite scheduled departure?

My Tesla charger typically charges to 85% and has a 40 amp charge rate. I scheduled a departure time of 10 AM tomorrow, I set the goal to 100% today in the hopes that the car will postpone charging until closer to departure. I didn't want it to sit at full charge for eighteen hours, though, because it was already at 100% at 1 PM today. Did I make a mistake in the procedure, or did I not get how the scheduled departure operates?

Thanks. I might start doing it manually too if this keeps happening. Scheduled departure seems tricky to get right.

I've found that setting a departure time isn't always reliable. It's usually better to start charging and then set a departure time based on how long it actually takes. I've often found that the car finishes charging either too early or too late.

Honestly, I've had mixed results with the scheduled departure too. I just keep an eye on the charge level and start charging manually when it’s needed. Seems like that gives me more control and avoids those weird timing issues.
